Dr. Georgios Spyropoulos (Lab. Teaching Staff)

PhD Georgios Spyropoulos holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from University of West Attica (UNIWA – ex TEI of Piraeus), an MSc in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of the Aegean and a PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He currently belongs to the Laboratory Teaching Staff of UNIWA and has designed and developed the first-ever solar-based EV charging station in Greece, currently in operation in the campus of UNIWA, and acted as the Technical Director of the Accredited body for the Inspection of PV installations for SEALAB. He is also the responsible technical manager on development and construction of a mobile air pollution and meteorological data recording station, integrated in an Electric Vehicle. His research interests, experience and expertise are mainly focused on air quality and pollution, electromobility services and infrastructure, photovoltaics and RES-based energy systems, sustainable development and policy related issues. He has participated in several R&D projects funded by the EU and the Greek State. His research experience is validated by participation in more than 10 and 37 papers peer reviewed journal and conference papers respectively and he is the co-author of book “Computional Applications of Renewable Energy – Solar Energy, Photovoltaics, Solar Thermal Systems”. Finally, he holds two European awards: European Commission, 2017, “EU Sustainable Energy Award” in the energy islands category, project TILOS Island – Horizon 2020. European Commission, 2017, “EU Sustainable Energy Citizens Award” in the citizens category, project TILOS Island – Horizon 2020.
